Biography

Hed Bahack (b. 1994) is an Israeli composer based in Leipzig, Germany. His work explores music as a holistic and embodied experience, integrating bodily, psychological, and perceptual dimensions through the dynamic interactions between texture and gesture.

His music has been performed and commissioned by ensembles including Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Ascolta, IEMA, and Quatuor Diotima, as well as by soloists such as Ilya Gringolts and Lawrence Power. His works have been presented at festivals including the cresc… Biennial for Contemporary Music (Frankfurt), Impuls (Graz), ARCo (Marseille), Mizmorim (Basel), and ZfGM (Leipzig).

He has received several awards, among them the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft Prize (2026), Israel’s Culture Minister Composition Prize (2024), the Gesellschaft für Musiktheorie 1st Prize (2023), and the “Szymanowski” 2nd Prize, as well as scholarships from the Deutscher Musikrat and the America-Israel Foundation. He has participated in artist residencies at Otte-1 Künstlerhaus (Eckernförde) and mare-Künstlerhaus (Wentorf bei Hamburg).
