This is the first time
that I begin to doubt
whether I will be granted here
that, which between me and myself
I referred to as happiness.

I had never doubted.
But an evening empty of wishes
sneaks doubt into my heart.
Such evenings were certainly also
known to the great mountains climbers
as they saw the white, snowy peak
and their chests empty of climbing,
empty of mountains.
